📢 CALL FOR APPLICATIONS – Karate PEI 2027 Canada Games Volunteer Coaches 📢

Karate PEI is excited to announce that applications are now open for the following volunteer positions to lead our 2027 Canada Games Team:
 
• Head Coach
• Assistant Coach
 
Required Qualifications:
– Head Coach: Must be Competition Development Certified under the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) for Karate.
– Assistant Coach: Must be Competition Development Trained under NCCP for Karate.
 
*Coaches must hold these credentials no later than 90 days prior to the Opening Ceremony (Deadline: November 29, 2026).
 
All applicants must submit:
• Coaching resume;
• Proof of current NCCP status (via The Locker) *Or current status and anticipated qualification date if not currently held;
• Statement of coaching philosophy; and
• References (minimum of two).
 
Applicants will be evaluated on the following criteria:
• NCCP certification status (required);
• Coaching experience at the provincial/national level;
• Experience working with youth athletes (ages 16–17);
• Record of ethical conduct and athlete-centered leadership; and
• Demonstrated commitment to training and athlete development.
 
Deadlines:
Application packages should be submitted to karatepeiboard@gmail.com no later than 29 Aug 2025. Shortlisted candidates may be interviewed by the Selection Committee.
 
INFORMATION
Roles and Responsibilities:
 
Head Coach
• Oversee the entire Canada Games athlete preparation program
• Lead team selection and training
• Act as main liaison with Karate PEI and the Canada Games mission staff
 
Assistant Coach
• Support training and logistical preparation
• Provide technical coaching and athlete support during Games
• May assume Head Coach duties in their absence (if certified)
